The Arcade Is Back! |
| Posted By: War @ Feb 26 2009, 05:15 PM |

The forum arcade is back and working.
You can find the arcade by going to the menu and choosing the arcade link within it, OR by just clicking the arcade link at the top of the page near your chat link or private messages link.
The arcade has some flash games that you can play, and you can save your scores too.
I can also use your scores to incorporate them into your stats as well. For example, I could make it so you get an extra 1 exp for every 1000 points you have in breakout.
I could make it so you have + strength for every winning game of asteroids you have. and so on and so on.
This gives you more to do on the site if your weight and attack timers are still not up. |

Vehicles! |
| Posted By: War @ Jan 2 2009, 09:46 PM |
Vehicles go vrooooom!

Yes, vehicles are in the game....well at least they are for the marines at this second.
The first vehicle to be added to the game is the marine APC (armored personel carrier).
Crafters first buy the blueprints from the marine crafting store. They will then craft the machines. Keep in mind there is a VERY high failure rate, so only highly experienced crafters will be able to make them without worry of losing the blueprints.
Once created, any marine can "enter" the vehicle. Much like the exosuits, they must not be wearing any armor or weapons. They will then get a big bonus to their armor while in the vehicle.
Cool stuff:
Once inside the vehicle, the player will earn experience over time. After driving around in the vehicle you learn new things and that translates into experience points. The player must STAY IN THE VEHICLE for roughly one day in order to earn any experience. If they leave the vehicle, the timer will reset. These vehicles are not only just for that person. Other people can hop inside them with the driver as passengers. These passengers will ALSO earn experience however a slightly lower amount than what the driver earns. Passengers can not access the store area or use shop areas while riding, however they can still tend to their pets if they are pet owners.
In each topic (more areas to be added soon) under each persons stat area, you will see new icons:
- This means the person is driving a vehicle. Clicking on this icon will send a PM to the driver asking them to let you on board the vehicle as a passenger.
- This icon means the person is riding inside a vehicle.
Below those you will see "Vehicle Exp" This bar shows how far you have gone and how much left you have to go, untill your vehicle will pay out experience. Once it is full, you will get a message the next time you visit the store area.
Vehicles enable people to make extra experience, provide decent armor defence, and can be used to help others level up.
There will be other vehicles to come, the code that I had to write in order for all this to work took all day and is super confusing. However it is done, and making new vehicles will be easier.
There will be predator ships to fly, other land based vehicles for marines and predators. Aliens however do not use vehicles. There may eventually be a cacoon they can get inside of and 'evolve' into a flying alien.
I may be able to add weapon attachments to vehicles eventually as well, until then keep your eyes open. |

Dinner Is Ready |
| Posted By: War @ Sep 25 2008, 07:09 AM |
FOOOOOOOOOOOOOD

Food and drinks are now in the game for players. It's not just for pets anymore.
Food and liquids are now a necessary thing for all members to have.
Each species can buy the two types of drinks, and the 4 types of foods for their species in the species stores.
These items can not be crafted, and instead can only be bought from the main species stores, this will help put money back into the game bank.
Each player now has two new stats shown in thier posts on the left, in their profile page, and in the stats window of the front interface.
Thirst and hunger.
Over time, the water levels and food levels shown in the percentage bars will drop. The amount it drops is based on close to real levels. On average, a human can last about 8 days without water, about a month without food before dieing.
Alien and predator levels are based off that but tweaked to reflect their species more. Aliens can go for MUCH longer periods of time without having to eat or drink before it starts to affect them badly.
Predators must eat more often. However the negative affects are not as bad as other species. Marines have a balance of both the good and bad effects.
The more drink you need, and the more food you require, the worse off you will preform. You will do less damage, and will be much slower than normal. Clan attacks are also affected.
Be sure to stay full and hydrated for optimal performance!
Here is the breakdown of items:
Aliens:
- A simple muddy puddle, aliens can scavenge water out of this. Cheap but also very low water content.
- Host Blood. You rip open the jugular of one of your live hosts in the hive and drink the sweet sweet blood from within. Very nutritious but they arn't that plentiful.
- A small insect. Low in food value, but cheap. Gobble them up.
- A small rodent, better nutrition than an insect.
- A baby mammal. A good source of flesh, but weighs a good amount.
- You hunt down a fresh human and feast upon their body. Heavy to carry around, but great nourishment.
Marines:
- Water. Your basic water bottle. good water source, but expensive.
- Beer. What every good marine enjoys. Has low water value in it, but restores a small amount of adrenaline when drunk as well!
- The marine HQ may provide shelter, but their vending machines only carry the same protein snack candy bar....low food value, but it's candy..
- Your basic standard issue USCM rations kit. Provides a decent amount of food.
- Two slices of hearty bread with some synthetic meat in the middle, good protein and tasty!
- One whole roasted synthetic chicken with a serving of vegetables on the site! Mmmmmmmmm
Predator:
- A special predator mix that when inhaled, forms moisture within the predator body. The equivalent of being covered in morning dew.
- Liqua Gel. This substance will provide a good amount of liquid but is in a jelly like form so it will last as well.
- Resource stimulant. This is nothing more than a handful of raw resource material squeezed together. This provides a low amount of nutrition, but is better than nothing.
- Re-Hydrated stimulants. This gives the predator some real good meal type of object. Hydrated food stimulants that provide a good amount of food, and a very little amount of liquid!
- A nice big meal of food stimulant substances. Much more food value than the re-hydrated stuff.
- A care package full of high density food stuffs from your home planet. Usually given to Hunting predators while on extended hunting expeditions. |

Welcome to AvPvM.com!
This is a web MMO based on the Aliens vs Predator universe. That includes by default, humans who are the marines.
This is mainly a message forum. However it has incredable RPG game technology built into it and lets you play out a real AvP RPG through your browser!
What you see here is the main news page. Updates to the game will be displayed on this front news area. From here you can log in or register. We will now visit the registration area and you can create your character!
You can move forward in this tour by clicking on the arrows in the upper left of this box.
Here, you can register a new account. The first area is basic forum information, a name, password email etc. The later part is where you create your character.
Choose from:
- Aliens - Can regenerate blood, turn other members into aliens with facehuggers, and heal by using headbites
- Predators - Have very powerfull weapons. Can carry the most weight. Have a self nuke weapon
- Marines - Get bonus to money, have higher intelect so they can craft easier, more variety in weapons.
Each species can then select a profession.
- Soldiers - Soldiers get bonuses to attacking other members, and can even get looted items off of killing other members of the game.
- NPC Hunters - These guys have the ability to hunt NPC units. NPC's stand for NON PLAYER CHARACTERS. They are created from NPC Crafters. Hunters get items and exp from killing these computer enemies. They very little from from killing other members.
- Crafters - Crafters CRAFT! They use tools bought in the store area to create weapons, armor and items. They then can sell those items in their very own user shops!
- Pet Owners - These people get a pet that can fight with them and grow with them. Each species gets a type of pet. Aliens get eggs which then turn into facehuggers and then aliens. Marines get synthetic robots, and Predators get Initiate warriors to train. Pets generate CPU's that are used as fuel for clans to attack with. Pets also generate money and gain exp along with their owners.
And of course. Each profession has a sub-profession, such as offensive/defensive attackers, or NPC crafters, or specializing in pets that heal you. Once you are set, fill out the rest of the forms and submit.
This is the main forum area. There are lots of forums to post in. Posting gives you many things such as:
- Posts
- Money
- Exp for your pets
- Resources for crafters
There are even forums just for each species. You can even buy your own forum area, or your clan can buy their own forum area. That way your clan has their own forum to post in and no one else can see it.
The same goes with the species forums. Only aliens can see in and post in the aliens forum. Keeping active ensures a powerful life.
Since you have not registered an account yet. You do not see an inventory. However you can get an idea of the store areas here.
This is the main HUB of the game. On the left you can see the many store links available to you as well as character links on the top left. Click off of this tutorial and hover your mouse over each button to see where they go!
This is the User Shop area.
Crafters can purchase their own stores here, and then put any item up for sale. They can determine the price of an item and how many to put up for sale. They can also ban people from using their shop.
This is the area you would go to find weapons, armor, and special items such as weapon upgrades, or medical supplies.
This is the Clan area of the game. Members can either join a clan or create their own clan. They can then enter this area to manage it. A clan is a group of people under 1 banner. Each clan has many things they can do:
- Attack other clans using CPU's
- Store items in the clan bank
- Build clan structures to boost the clan defense and damage
Clan leaders can designate co-leaders as well. Clan leaders and co-leaders can attack other clans, and form ranks among members.
Each rank allows the member more and more access to the clan system. A rank 1 can only view clan things. A rank 5 can do just about anything with the clan.
There are even Help Files for the game. It is a seperate system from the game running at wetpaint.com. It is user generated so you can even create an account here and add/edit to the help files. It works just like wikipedia does.
If you have any questions you can probably find the answer here. To get to the Help Files you just click on the big link under the main navigation back on the site...
Now you can register your own account.
Click on the REGISTER link in the upper left and sign up!
